How our weed control program works

• Fertilizer with the weed control so the grass thickens and crowds out new weeds. Thin turf is why the same crabgrass comes back after a big-box spray.

• No quota pressure. We pay the team for quality, not for racing through the neighborhood.
Georgia weeds we treat
North Georgia lawns fight a specific set of weeds. We write about them in detail because the control method is not the same for each one:
• Crabgrass — a summer annual. Pre-emergent timing matters more than a late summer panic spray.
• Poa annua (annual bluegrass) — the light-green clumps that show up in winter and spring, especially in thin Bermuda.
• Nutsedge — not a grass. If you only hit the leaves, the nutlets in the soil send it back.
• Wild violets — waxy leaves that shrug off a generic broadleaf mix unless we custom-spot them.

When we treat lawns in North Georgia
Product choice follows grass type and season. Bermuda, Zoysia, and Centipede are warm-season. Fescue is cool-season and needs a different calendar, especially around summer stress.
• Late winter / early spring: pre-emergent before crabgrass germinates, plus fertilizer as warm-season grass comes out of dormancy.
• Spring and summer: post-emergent on weeds that broke through, plus the custom spot mix. This is also when core aeration helps Bermuda and Zoysia on Georgia clay — a separate service, not a substitute for weed control.
• Fall: Fescue gets aeration and overseeding on its own schedule. Weed pressure shifts; we do not copy a summer Bermuda mix onto a fescue lawn.
